Planning and Executing Lessons the SMART Way

This workshop outlines and details the many features, add-ons and
extras that make interacting and working with your SmartBoard even
smarter. Built-in SMART Notebook features will include participant interaction on their mobile device: "SMART response 2" (formative assessment) and "Shout It Out!" (word cloud / brainstorming)

A demo will show how to wirelessly connect an iPad to your SMART Board in 3 easy steps, allowing the teacher to conduct their SMART Notebook lesson directly from the device.

Reaching Diverse Learners in Vocational Education through Technology.

This informative and interactive workshop will focus on collaboration, creation and innovation in educational contexts (specifically vocational education).
Collaborate: Inclusion and appreciating diversity in the classroom.
-This segment will present an up-to-date explanation and synthesis of the current research on learning differences, the construct of inclusion and a brief summary of various general best-practices strategies for inclusive teaching.
-There is consensus among vocational education teachers that there are rising needs and challenges for differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching in the vocational sector. We are seeing an ever-increasing number of students with learning differences
Create: Cultivating knowledge and checking for understanding.
-This segment will focus on ways to create knowledge among diverse learners and how teachers can check for understanding throughout the learning process.
Innovate: Innovation through technology.
-Looking at a range of various free technologies/applications that can be used in the classroom to engage learners and for formative assessments.

Virtual Reality in the Classroom

In this workshop, we explore the advantages and countless possibilities
a mobile device and Cardboard offer learners and teachers alike. Lead your students on a virtual tour of a hospital. Look at a vehicle's engine and identify its parts right before your eyes in a 360 degree environment.

Emphasis will be on highlighting ideas and suggesting intuitive ways to incorporate Virtual Reality technology into your vocational centre's existing programs.
